“We recognize the opportunities that result from recent and upcoming developments in quantum computing and want to make the results usable for our research and development of next generation instruments”, said Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Heinz-Wilhelm Hübers, director of DLR Institute of Optical Sensor Systems (DLR-OS). “Cooperating with Quantagonia allows us to start designing complex data processing workflows that leverage quantum computing in the future.”

“We’re excited about this cooperation because it gives us the chance to better understand the needs of the aerospace industry while also allowing DLR-OS to develop next generation instruments by leveraging quantum computing”, said Prof. Dr. Sabina Jeschke, co-founder of Quantagonia. “This scientific cooperation shows just how broad the potential of quantum computing is – in this specific case for data processing within optical sensor systems.”

About DLR Institute of Optical Sensor Systems:

The Institute of Optical Sensor Systems focusses on research and development of active and passive optical sensor systems operating in the UV, visible, infrared and THz spectral range. The instruments are applied in space research and space exploration, on board of flying platforms and for robotic systems. The institute participates in the scientific analysis of the data obtained with these systems. This includes Earth observation, robotics, planetary research, transport, and security. The development of sensor-oriented algorithms for information processing lays the foundation for autonomous optical sensor systems. You can learn more on their website: https://www.dlr.de/os/en/
